Shawn Carrasco aka Da Gorilla:
He was born in Odessa Texas in 1973, and was raised In Corpus Christi and in Dallas Texas.
He founded DGK (Da Gorilla Kids) in May 2020 with the purpose to affect change in what’s become accepted as a culture of violence amongst our youth.
A single Father of 2 children Phillip and Madalyn Carrasco. Shawn gave up an accomplished career as a Pipeliner in the Oilfield; Sacrificing a life of Comfort to pursue his mission and answer Gods Calling..
What began with 4 children under the Shady Pines at Optimist Park, has now amassed into a non-profit Organization with over 700 or more children and into ECISD where he is an Approved Volunteer Mentor, Alternative Education Center, and a Partnership with Permiacare working with Mentally Ill Children.
DGK is known for its Cultural, Social and Economic Diversity of Children. Becoming what is now being Recognized as the Largest Therapeutic Community of Children ages 5-18yrs old. Including children who’ve suffered different forms of trauma, death of a parent, abandonment, mentally ill, suicidal, Bullied, Special Needs, Autistic and even the Bullies…
